Monnoks were a biped species that was feared by many, including the desert nomads of Socorro. Considered to be sentient yet semi-intelligent, these creatures looked primitive, used spears, and were excellent hunters on their homeworld of Socorro, where they lived on the black sands as desert wanderers.

Their appearance was used for one of the holographic pieces in the game dejarik, which had red and yellow skin, black eyes, and carried a staff. By at least 11 ABY, a monnok gladiator was one of several creatures and gladiators belonging to species featured in dejarik that was unleashed upon the Mandalorian Din Djarin and Rotta the Hutt in the Pits on the moon Shakari. The monnok was knocked down by Djarin, who took its staff to use against a Mantellian Savrip, before the beasts escaped the arena and wreaked havoc on civilians, however, the Monnok was shot down by Djarin shortly after leaving the arena when it tried to attack the Mandalorian and Rotta.
