An ion module was a type of blaster module that allowed a blaster to fire an ion bolt. In 3 ABY, Kay Vess constructed an ion module for her VM-19 blaster pistol using an ion casing and a number of ion energy converters.
During the same year, Vess constructed two additional ion modules after receiving an ion recirculator from the Rodian droidsmith Gedeek Obaz and a power regulator from the Weequay pirate Hondo Ohnaka. The ion recirculator caused a short-range ion surge and the power regulator caused its ion bolts to discharge a powerful shockwave on impact.
